The Alcazar is the castle here in Segovia. It has housed such Spanish royals as Phillipe II, Phillipe V, Carlos V, and Mickey Mouse! Actually, the Alcazar is the castle that Walt Disney fashioned his castle after in Disney World (the first three were actually Spanish kings). We spent several hours in the castle touring the various rooms and learning interesting stories about the royalty that lived there. It was amazingly beautiful as well as amazingly cold... I´m sure that the king and queen today have central heating. We actually climbed up the 152 steps of Torre de Juan II (Tower of Juan II) to get to the tower you see in the picture here. We were actually standing on the part with the flag. It was an amazing view but left my legs sore the next day. After spending a few hours here, I could see why this castle has become famous throughout the world.
